English: Canning Town Transport Interchange Canning Town Station nearly did not feature on the Docklands Light Railway network but is becoming and increasingly important hub, particularly with the impending Olympics. This train to Beckton was in fact operating as a shuttle service between Canning Town and Beckton due to rebuilding works at Tower Gateway station in the City.
Below can be seen the extensive bus station built at the same time. The canopy at the right hand of the picture shelters what was the platform on the railway to North Woolwich, now superseded by the DLR branch to Woolwich. This platform is being rebuilt to take the new DLR line to Stratford International. |
