Cannonball found at Former Fort Hancock

Summary edit

Description
English: Two views of a cannonball found at the Former Fort Hancock, Sandy Hook, New Jersey, on 6 November 2017. The cannonball was found in the southern part of the peninsula by contractors working for the United States Army Corps of Engineers, and is considered munitions debris (not explosive). The notch in the right view is probably an attachment point for a chain, making this half of a chain shot, used for severing masts of wooden ships.
This item is pictured in FINAL MMRP REMEDIAL INVESTIGATION ADDENDUM #3 REPORT FORT HANCOCK FORMERLY USED DEFENSE SITE MONMOUTH COUNTY, NEW JERSEY, November 2018, Appendix G (photo log), photo 12, where it is listed as anomaly 651.
