Description
English: Car park bonfire, Belfast. Every year numerous bonfires are lit in N.Ireland on the 11th July (just prior to the '12th' celebrations The_Twelfth ) to commemorate the victory of Prince William of Orange (King William III) over King James II at the Battle of the Boyne in 1690 (see Battle_of_the_boyne ). Traditionally bonfires were erected and lit on waste ground but, as increased development in Belfast has removed many of these, bonfires are now erected wherever possible - be it in a car park or even the middle of the road. This car park is located on Posnett Street between Botanic Avenue and Donegall Pass. I didn't see any cars in it...... See also 877918, 877921 and 878991.
