Deutsch: Vorderseite: IMP CARAVSIVS AVG. Drapierte Panzerbüste des Carausius mit Lorbeerkranz in der Brustansicht nach r.

Rückseite: [CONCOR]DIA - MILIT//VM. Der Kaiser l. steht in der Toga nach r. im Handschlag (dextrarum iunctio) mit Concordia r., die nach l. diesem gegenüber steht.

Kommentar: Oben gelocht. Anders als Shiel (1977) vermutet, ist diese Münze sicher nicht erst modern gelocht, sondern auf den Zeichnungen des 17. und 18. Jhs. nur in idealisierter Form abgebildet. - Carausius hatte bereits militärische Erfahrungen und war seit 285 n. Chr. (?) Kommandeur der britannischen Flotte. Er ließ sich Ende 286 (oder im Winter 287/288) n. Chr. zum Kaiser ausrufen und herrschte über Britannien und bis zum Jahresanfang 293 n. Chr. auch über die nordwestgallischen Küstengebiete. Ende 293 n. Chr. wurde er von Allectus ermordet.
