DescriptionCarreg Dhu Gardens and Sunnyside farmhouse, near Rocky Hill - geograph.org.uk - 794199.jpg |
English: Carreg Dhu Gardens and Sunnyside farmhouse, near Rocky Hill Carreg Dhu (pronounced Crake Dew) community gardens were started by volunteers in 1986, in the site of an old quarry. The 1.5 acre gardens are now home to a variety of interesting sub-tropical plants, including palm trees, agaves, aeoniums and Geranium maderense (Madeiran cranesbill), living outdoors all year round in the frost-free conditions.
The building seen rising above the hedges is Sunnyside farmhouse, now converted to three holiday flats. The 36 acre farm produces scented Narcissus from autumn to spring, and Agapanthus blooms in July. |
