editDescriptionCarved Wheeled Cross, Anderin, Syria - 1.jpg | Large Byzantine site (3 km²) located 25 km north of Qasr Ibn Wardan. The city was one of the defensive works in the north eastern Syria. 9 churches are identified on the site, but only 2 are currently visible. Much of the site is still buried. The barracks located in the north-east of the site are the sole focus of the visit. they date from the reign of Justinian (527-565 AD). A chapel is locaed in the centre of the barracks and there is a hexagonal tower in each corner of the wall. |
