El 24 de noviembre de 1976, alrededor de las 13:15 hs., la casa del matrimonio Mariani-Teruggi fue rodeada, atacada y saqueada por las fuerzas de la dictadura cívico-militar en un operativo que duró cerca de cuatro horas. En ese momento se encontraban allí Diana, Clara Anahí y cuatro compañeros de militancia de sus padres: Daniel Mendiburu Eliçabe (de 25 años, estudiante de Arquitectura), Roberto César Porfidio (de 31 años, Licenciado en Letras), Juan Carlos Peiris (de 28 años, antenista) y Alberto Oscar Bossio (34 años, médico). En ese ataque armado asesinaron a Diana (de 26 años, estudiante de letras) y a sus compañeros de militancia. Daniel Mariani (de 29 años, Licenciado en Economía) logró salvarse porque en ese momento no se encontraba en su domicilio. El 1 de agosto de 1977 fue asesinado por las fuerzas de seguridad en las adyacencias de 132 y 35, en la ciudad de La Plata. Clara Anahí sobrevivió al ataque y fue sustraída con vida de la casa por personal de las fuerzas armadas. Hasta la fecha no se tienen noticias ciertas sobre su destino.
