English: Pledge by a Japanese disciple to his medical teacher to keep the teachings of Caspar about pharmaceutical oils, plasters, etc. absolutely secret. Written by Shinma Michitaka and adressed to his master Sakurai Naotomo in 1771.
Caspar Schamberger (1623-1706) was a German surgeon who came to Japan in 1649 and induced a continuing interest in western medical books, pharmaceuticals, treatment methods etc. (Michel-Collection, Kyushu University Medical Library, Fukuoka)
