Italiano: Il castello di Melfi è un monumento della Basilicata di proprietà dello Stato italiano, tra i più importanti castelli medievali d'Italia.
La sua fondazione risale al periodo normanno e ha subito alcune modifiche nel corso del tempo, soprattutto in epoca angioina e aragonese. Roberto il Guiscardo vi confinò la prima moglie Alberada, ripudiata per sposare Sichelgaita di Salerno. Federico II promulgò qui le Costituzioni di Melfi. Con l'avvento degli angioini il castello subì radicali restaurazioni e fu nominato nel 1284 residenza ufficiale della moglie di Carlo II d'Angiò, Maria d'Ungheria. Gli Aragonesi affidarono il castello prima alla famiglia Caracciolo e poi al principe Andrea Doria, i cui discendenti lo mantennero fino al 1950. |
