Description
Deutsch: Das Kastell Gholaia, das durch antike Quellen auch als castra Chol(aia), [G]olas sowie in der Tabula Peutingeriana als Chosol überliefert ist, war ein römisches Militärlager, das für Sicherungs- und Überwachungsaufgaben am vorderen Limes Tripolitanus, einem tiefgestaffelten System von Kastellen und Militärposten, in der römischen Provinz Africa proconsularis zuständig war. Das Bild zeigt den Blick durch das Tor der Porta praetoria ins Innere des Kastells. Deutlich sind die abgeschrägten Wangen der beiden Tortürme sowie das Rustikamauerwerk mit Randschlag zu sehen
