Catedral de Sechura, en el norte del Perú, tambien conocida como la Catedral de la Arena, a rais de la abundancia de arena existente en el desierto de Sechura que rodea toda la ciudad. La catedral de Sechura es la iglesia mas antigua de Piura y una de las mas antiguas del Perú. Su antiguedad se debe a la pesca que es la actividad ancentral. Cuando los Españoles invadieron el puerto de bayovar, parachique, playa blanca y demas playas ricas en pescados, mariscos y moluscos. El monumento que se encuentra en el centro de la plaza de armas es el Contralmirante y heroe nacional Miguel Grau Seminario, tambien conocido como el " Caballero de los mares " , quien defendio el mar peruano a costa de su propia vida en su monito Huascar en la guerra del pacifico. |
