Description

NPS/Patrick Myers

  1. WildlifeWednesday - Many of us have a tendency to drive on paved roads through nature, looking for big views and big wildlife. But in doing so, we miss the little things - colorful insects, birds, flowers, rocks, fossils, and evidence of prehistoric and historic people - that are a special part of experiencing a place.

For children, this is actually often the most important part of their experience of a park. Big views mean little to them. Multisensory experiences with small creatures, artifacts, unique rocks, and plants that they can smell or taste, are what they tend to remember most about their visit. On your next visit to this big park, take time to experience the little things!
