DescriptionCatholic Church Cizhong Yunnan China.jpg |
English: Sacred Heart Church by the Mekong River at Cizhong (茨中; Tsedro by its Tibetan name), part of East Tibet incorporated into Yunnan. It was first built by the French missionary Jules Dubernard (Paris Foreign Missions Society) in 1867 at Tsekou, and subsequently incinerated, then rebuilt at Tsedro in 1909 and completed in 1911, under the supervision of Jean-Théodore Monbeig. Since the region is very ethnically diverse, the church members include ethnic groups such as Han, Lisu, Nakhi, Tibetan, etc. This church belongs to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kangding, Sichuan. See also "Catholic Church in Tibet" and "Catholic Church in Sichuan". (Here's more details)
