Summary

edit
Description
English: The consecrated stone of the altar. It has four carved crosses, one in each corner, and a fifth cross carved at the center. Near the front edge of the center is cut a recess, the Sepulchrum, into which the relics of two martyrs are placed. These relics are necessary to have the stone consecrated. If the altar stone is the entire top of the altar, it is called a "fixed" or "immovable" altar. If the altar stone is small and fitted into the altar table, the altar is known as a "portable" or "movable" altar.
