Description
English: Catkins. The flowers of the hazel, a very useful plant which forms a lot of the hedgerows here. Hazel provides building material, for walls and fences, sticks for driving cattle, and of course nuts. Sadly the introduction of the grey squirrel with its fondness for unripe nuts means that edible nuts are not easy to come by now, but I have been successful in Mid Wales. Picture taken on a green lane descending from Wylfre towards Pen-y-banc.
