| Description |
The Catlow Theater in Barrington (1927). It was opened in 1927 and features sculptures by Alfonso Iannelli. It was originally a vaudeville theater, featuring acts such as Gene Autry and Sally Rand. An interesting bit of recent history: the Catlow was up against the wall last year. Current trends in moviemaking are eliminating traditional film in favor of a digital format. However, most classic theaters will be unable to show new films without a substantial financial commitment to new audio and visual equipment. The owners had a unique idea: they started a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds. The campaign was overwhelmingly successful, and the theater raised over $175,000. |
