English: c/n unknown.
Rebuild from a P-51D in 1967 by the Cavalier Aircraft Corporation, becoming a Cavalier TF-51D with the US military serial 67-14866. Delivered to the Fuerza Aérea Boliviana (FABo, Bolivian Air Force) in 1968 with the serial 521. Sold to Canada in late 1977 and became C-GXUR. Registered as N20TF to Tom Friedkin in 1991. Damaged in a forced ‘gear-up’ landing in September 2000, she was rebuilt at Chino and flew again in May 2003. She immediately visited the UK and was displayed at the 2003 Flying Legends airshow at Duxford. At the time she was appropriately painted in a WW2 era 78th Fighter Group colour scheme, from the unit’s time based at Duxford in 1944-45. During her 2003 UK visit she was coded DF-X but had no tail number or name. She still flies in a 78th Fighter Group scheme but has since been recoded as ‘WZ-Y’ with the tail number 463187 and the name “Bum Steer”. She is seen displaying at the 2019 Guardians of Freedom Airshow. Sheppard AFB, Wichita Falls, Texas 26th October 2019 |
