Description
English: The Cazenovia Neighborhood Library, 155 Cazenovia Street, Buffalo, New York, October 2020. Located adjacent to Cazenovia Park, the Colonial Revival-style design of the building - the most richly detailed of the first wave of branch locations established by the Buffalo Public Library - was the product of city-employed architect Howard Beck, who appended parapet gable walls to either side of the side-gabled roof, enclosed jack-arched windows with decorative keystones within a blind arcade on the front façade, and framed the front entrance with fanlights, a round arch, and a pediment supported by engaged Ionic columns. The Cazenovia Branch Library was in operation from 1924 until 2005, when it was lost to a round of library downsizing, but the building remains in operation as the independently-run Cazenovia Neighborhood Library, lending out books, offering a range of other media resources, and holding a range of educational programs accessible to members.
