Português: O Coronel Joaquim Antônio de Moraes Sarmento nasceu no dia 17 de maio de 1882 e ingressou na Policia Militar em 1907.
Participou de todas as operações revolucionárias travadas pela corporação entre 1912 e 1926, comandando a tropa paranaense na "Revolução de 1924". Ele foi reconhecido patrono da Polícia Militar do Paraná por ter dedicado sua vida à corporação e pela luta na "Campanha do Contestado", em 1912, na qual teve o olho direito ferido. Sarmento foi para a reserva em 1926, sendo chamado à ativa em 1929 pelo período de um ano, sendo definitivamente reformado em 1930. O Coronel faleceu no dia 21 de abril de 1934, dia de Tiradentes, patrono das polícias do Brasil. |
