O Chafariz dos Amores localiza-se fronteiro ao portão de acesso do Passeio Público, é em forma de cascata, ao centro de um tanque de água contornando por meta de cantaria. Apresenta ainda as duas esculturas de jacarés, em bronze, que foram fundidas na antiga Casa do Trem, segundo risco de Valentim; as armas de mármore do Vice-Rei; assim como o busto de Diana, também em mármore, que aí foi colocado, mais tarde pelo Conde dos Arcos. As outras figuras que existiram neste chafariz desapareceram com o tempo. Encostado em seu tardoz ainda subsiste um pequeno chafariz, com a figura do menino que enche de água uma barrica, e leva o dístico: “Sou útil inda brincando”.
