Description Leaves are oppositely arranged, have 3 strong longitudinal veins and are 1-4 cm long; interpetiolar stipules present. Flowerheads consist of dense clusters of tiny (about 1 mm long) flowers in the axils of upper leaves; they are surrounded by an involucre and containing 1 female flower and 8–10 male flowers; perianth absent. Flowering is in spring and summer.
