Description
English: Chanctonbury Hill, Cross Dyke Once called 'Covered Ways', Cross Dykes run across the ridge of the Downs. This one is some 400 metres West of Chanctonbury Ring where both Roman and prehistoric temples have been excavated. The South Downs Way cuts through the Cross Dyke with a further 10 metres of Cross Dyke south of the Way not shown on the OS map. The OS 6" map of 1879 shows the track some 10 metres to the South, so avoiding the Cross Dyke.

There is a further Cross Dyke on Chanctonbury Hill, some 400 metres to the South East and it also runs across the ridge.
