Description
English: Lancastria survivor Charles Napier from Aberdeenshire holding up a copy of the newspaper which reported the news of the Lancastria sinking. Mr Napier is also wearing the Lancastria commemorative medal which was awarded by the Scottish Government in June 2008 in recognition of those who were aboard the vessel that day. The loss of the Lancastria on 17th June 1940 was the worst single loss of life for British forces in the whole of WW2 and remains the country's worst maritime disaster of all time.
