Description
English: Charles Basil Mortimer Hodgson was born on 25th September, 1881 in Kingston upon Thames. On the 3rd August 1911 in Salisbury Cathedral he married Mary Alice Carpenter, Daughter of Harry Carpenter, ArchDeacon of Salisbury Cathedral. At this time he was a Barrister.
In 1906 he had been appointed Second Lieutenant in the 3rd Battalion, The Queen’s (Royal West Surrey Regiment)
He entered the theatre of war in France and Palestine. He died of wounds on 1st April, 1918 aged 37 and was buried in the Cairo War Memorial Cemetery, Egypt.
He was awarded the Croix de Guerre with a bronze palm.
