| Description |
English: This is a second degree chemical burn as a result of prolonged contact with silver nitrate (AgNO3), on the left hand of a caucasian female. Note the darkening tissue, a sign of tissue necrosis, as well as the leathery appearance of surrounding skin. Unlike other chemical burns, AgNO3 penetrates tissue layers at a slower rate and adverse effects of contacts are often not immediately noticed. Several days after this photo, dead tissue layers began to slough off and raw layers of the dermis and flesh was partially exposed. This burn took over 4 weeks to fully heal properly.
Français : Brûlure au second degré causé par contact prolongé avec un produit chimique (nitrate d'argent ou AgNO3), sur la main gauche d'une femme de « race blanche ». Les zones sombres correspondent à des nécroses des tissus, ainsi que l'aspect « tanné » de la peau environnante. Contrairement à ce qui se produit lors d'autres brûlures chimiques plus rapides, AgNO3 ne pénètre les couches de tissu que très lentement, et les effets néfastes du contacts ne sont souvent pas tout de suite remarqué. Plusieurs jours après cette photo, les couches de tissu mort ont commencé à se décoller en mettant le derme et la chair à nu. Cette brûlure a plus de 4 semaines pour guérir complètement correctement. |
