English: Down North Wales express crossing the River Dee at Chester Racecourse. View NE, towards Chester General (also Birkenhead), ex-London & North Western Chester - Holyhead main line. The tracks here were shared with the ex-Great Western main line from Shrewsbury etc., which joined at Saltney Junction. The locomotive is the penultimate 'Coronation' Pacific (built 12/47) - and last to be withdrawn (9/64), No. 46256 'Sir William A. Stanier, F.R.S'. |
