Public domain. This work was originally published before 1964 without a copyright mark. Even if it had been copyrighted, it had to have the copyright renewed sometime in the 28th year. If the copyright was not renewed the work is in the public domain. Online searches of the U.S. Copyright Office's Copyright Records web site for Michigan State yearbooks known as the "Wolverine" revealed no renewal entry for the 1943 Wolverine. Similar searches of the Stanford University Copyright Renewal Database reveals no copyright renewals for any volume of the 1943 Wolverine. Accordingly, it appears the copyright was not renewed and therefore it is in the public domain according to either criteria. |
