Português: Inscrição em homenagem ao João Cândido em monumento a ele, na cidade do Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. A inscrição na placa de homenagem ao pé da estátua comete erros: não é verdade que João Cândido "nasceu na Vila São José, Encruzilhada do Sul, distrito de Rio Pardo". Ele nasceu na fazenda Coxilha Bonita, no vilarejo Dom Feliciano, que ficava no Município de Encruzilhada, que não era mais distrito de Rio Pardo desde 1849, décadas antes do nascimento dele. Em 1963, é a vez do já distrito (e não mais um vilarejo) Dom Feliciano se emancipar do Município de Encruzilhada (já com o novo nome de Encruzilhada do Sul). Portanto, João Cândido nasceu encruzilhadense e morreu domfelicianense. |
