Description Looking north along the "Miracle Mile" or "Magnificent Mile" of North Michigan Avenue. The Sheraton-Chicago Hotel is at the far right. The Old Water Tower is almost hidden in the background. It was built in 1869, and was one of the few downtown structures to survive the Chicago Fire of 1871. It is 154 ft (47 m) high.
