I'm glad she won with 73% of the vote, avoiding a runoff in April, (unlike our mayor and several of her colleagues).

She deserved to. The Rosenwald, an apartment building that is a Bronzeville institution and had fallen on hard times under her predecessor, is being renovated as a result of her hard work. Not to mention the fact that of the 14 schools slated to be closed in her ward by Mayor Emanuel, only two actually were, again, as a result of her efforts.

So I'm concerned about the thought processes of that pesky 27% who voted for her opponent, Pat Horton.

Ah, yes, Pat Horton, who late last year beat up her ex-landlord in Daley Center, where he had just won a judgment against her for trashing an apartment he had rented to her.

Wait; it gets better. Then she flashed her useless Water Reclamation Dept. badge at a Cook County Sheriff's cop who had shown up to calm her down. Why was the badge useless, I hear you ask. Well, she had been fired from that position in 2012. Her explanation: "Well, they gave it to me and I had it in my purse."

To that stunning thread of logic, I can add absolutely nothing :D
