Summary edit

Description
English: Child & Adolescent Treatment Services, 1487 Main Street at Woodlawn Avenue, Buffalo, New York, August 2020. The building is one of many on this stretch of Main Street to be connected to the automobile retail industry in the first half of the 20th century, and it definitely bears all the architectural hallmarks of dealerships of the era: an understated Neoclassical design (a trio of decorative balustrades ornament the parapet at the roofline, and the arched elements at the sides of the façade crown what was once twin entrances) and a façade once dominated by massive floor-to-ceiling display windows (now covered over in Dryvit siding with only small expanses of glass block remaining). The building was erected in 1926 and was home for the next seven years to the Unit Parts Corporation, authorized dealer and distributor of numerous brands of aftermarket automotive parts and accessories. Thereafter, it spent most of the subsequent decades housing a variety of used car dealerships, save for a brief period in the late 1940s when it served as showroom of the Niagara Rug and Carpet Company. It's now the medical offices of Child & Adolescent Treatment Services.
