English: Carnival in the Netherlands is a festival held mainly in the Southern and Eastern regions of the Netherlands with an emphasis on role-reversal and the suspension of social norms, as part of celebrations of Carnival. Participants can wear costumes representing diverse races, groups, cultures, etc. The representing colours of the Maastricht carnival are red, gold and green. These colours can be seen in many places and occasions during the carnival.
