മലയാളം: ചൈനീസ് സ്ഫടികഗോളം. 18-ആം നൂറ്റാണ്ട്, ചൈന. പെൻസിൽ‌വേനിയ സർ‌വകലാശാല കാഴ്ചബംഗ്ലാവിലെ 'ചൈനീസ് റോട്ടൂണ്ട'യിൽ പ്രദർശിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ചിങ് രാജവംശ ഭരണകാലത്തെ രാജ്ഞിയായ റ്റ്സീഷീയുടെ (Cixi) സ്വകാര്യശേഖരത്തിൽ നിന്നുള്ളത് എന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. ചിങ് രാജവംശഭരണത്തിന്റെ അവസാനകാലത്ത് കൊട്ടാരവേശ്യ എന്ന നിലയിൽ നിന്ന് ചക്രവർത്തിനിയായി ഉയർന്ന റ്റ്സീഷീ ഏറെവെറുക്കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു.ഭരണം തകർന്ന് കൊട്ടാരം ആക്രമിക്കപ്പെട്ടപ്പോൾ നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടെന്ന് കരുതപ്പെടുന്ന ഈ സ്ഫടികഗോളം ഫിലാഡെല്ഫിയയിലെ ഒരു വ്യാപാരശാലയിൽ നിന്ന് വീണ്ടെടുക്കപ്പെടുകയായിരുന്നു.
English: Chinese crystal Ball. Weighs 55 pounds and is made of transparent quartz. Exhibit at the Chinese Rotunda of the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archeology and Anthropology, Philadelphia. The flaw-less crystal ball is believed to be from the imperial collection of Qing dynasty Empress,Cixi(1835 – 1908). When her palace was ransacked and the ball was believed to have been lost. The Crystal Ball was retrieved from a store in Philadelphia in the late 1920s and has ever since been Penn Museum’s best-loved objects.l |
