| Description |
Dansk: "Christian I's rejsealter". Skæringerne er udført i hvalrostand og andet tandmateriale. Sandsynligvis norsk arbejde. Tavlen deles i en Maria side med scener fra Jomfru Maria's liv, og en Olaf side med legender om skt. Olav og sagaens skildring af kongehelgenens død. Tavlens to halvdele er udført af hver sin kunstner. De er bragt sammen i en trætavle, der på ydersiden har bemalede relieffer. Anna Krabbe, der i 1600-årene ejede tavlen, har på ydersiden ladet malet en indskrift, som lidet troværdigt oplyser, at Christian I skulle have modtaget tavlen af Paven under sit besøg i Rom. Faktisk er der intet, der beviseligt kan forbinde altertavlen med Christian I. Ukendt oprindelse, men tilhørte Det kongelige Kunstkammer fra 1674. Datering: o. 1300-1320, mens ramme med de bemalede relieffer antages at være af sydtysk oprindelse, o. 1435. |
