Description
Peter Michael Hornung & Kasper Monrad, C. W. Eckersberg - dansk malerkunsts fader, 2005, reproduced p. 364 and p. 362-363 detail), mentioned p. 364. The two authors comment on the painting (in Danish): "In 1845 he carried out a painting in which he further varied the street scene with figures in windy weather. In the painting, which Eckersberg himself dubbed" A Storm", he tried to paint a phenomenon, which no painters have previously painted, dust clouds swirl up from the street because of the strong wind". A group of people are exposed to the dust and the wind. Two women have difficulty keeping their scarves on their heads and a gentleman tries to keep his hat on his head, while a little street urchin (gadedreng) is running after his hat.
