Summary
editDescriptionChurch Army Chapel model 1964.jpg |
English: 1964 architect's model of the Church Army Chapel at Blackheath, by E.T. Spashett ARIBA. The building was opened by Princess Alexandra in July 1965, as part of the Wilson Carlile Training College at Vanburgh Park, Blackheath, London. The spire is now missing, but can be seen on the model as a white vertical line coming from the centre of the hyperbolic paraboloid roof of the chapel. In 1965 there was an open quadrangle behind the chapel, but now that is filled with two large buildings. The original plans are lost and this is all that is currently available from 1964-65 of the chapel itself, apart from File:Church Army Chapel Drawing 1965.JPG and a scan of a 1965 colour print. |
