Description
English: Chwarel y Penrhyn from Y Fronllwyd. This a view into the newly extended upper pit of Penrhyn Quarry from the slopes of Y Fronllwyd. Chwarel y Penrhyn, owned by McAlpines, is only major working slate quarry in Snowdonia and is highly mechanised. Today, its workforce is around 300, compared with 2889 in its labour intensive 1882 hey-day.
