Description

At the Cisco Bridges the Canadian Pacific and Canadian National lines swap sides of the river. As the Canadian Pacific was first, it took the easiest route and that was to travel on the south shore of the Fraser River until Cisco when it would have been easier to build on the north shore. So that's what they built.

When the Canadian Northern came along they had to take the more difficult route along the north shore, and then cross here to the south shore.

From the train I couldn't get a view of the CP bridge as we were on it. However here's the CN bridge with maintenance crews on it. A major fire had hit the bridge a few weeks earlier and although the bridge was quickly back in use, clearly some repairs were continuing.

The bridges are at Siska, historically known as Cisco. Siska is home to the Siska First Nation
