English: Citron Seat ski peak It seems that Citron Seat is the inevitable destination of any visit to this grid square, and a worthwhile destination too, with its panoramic views over Bowes and the valley of the Greta, looking across to Cotherstone Moor. Today's ascent was fairly directly up from the Sleightholme road at the Trough Heads farm track, taking advantage of compressed snow left by a track-laying buggy for a lot of the way. Although conditions look superb, there are some quite large patches of crusty snow over a layer of heather and air which make for desperately hard going, thigh deep with the ski tips catching on the stems. Mostly, the ridge itself was good, however. |
