Summary edit
DescriptionCity Police Headquarters (former Western Hotel), Buffalo, New York, 1888 (from Views of Old-Time Buffalo).jpg | Seen very shortly before its 1888 demolition is the building at the northwest corner of Pearl Street and The Terrace in Buffalo, New York is the building that at that time served as city police headquarters and earlier was the Western Hotel. (The date is ascertained by the presence of the advertisement for Brock, Wiener & Geismer wholesale clothier on the building to its rear, which took on its junior partner and moved to their new home on Pearl Street that year.) The former hotel was demolished to make way for a new factory building for Warner Brothers, manufacturers of men's and boys' clothing (no relation to the present-day film and media corporation). The site is currently occupied by the offramp leading from the inbound lanes of the Buffalo Skyway to the northbound I-190. |
