City of Glasgow at Rugby

Summary

edit
Description
English: City of Glasgow at Rugby 87006 runs through Rugby with a Euston bound express. On the right is the British Thomson-Houston (BTH) factory - the white writing on the nearest building gives their name. Frank Whittle's prototype jet engine was built here. The electrical equipment inside 87006 was also made here. GEC, owners of the company, were reshaping the business at this time and during the 1980s some parts of the site were sold off. The building carrying the GEC name has been demolished. A full history of BTH, AEI and GEC on this site can be found on Wikipedia.
