Rückseite: DE GERMANIS [auf dem Bogen]. Triumphbogen, darauf Reiterstatue nach l. gerahmt von zwei Siegesmalen (tropaea).

Kommentar: Die Datierung beruht auf der einfachen Tribunicia Potestas, die Claudius bis Januar 42 innehatte, als er zum zweiten Mal in dieses Amt gewählt wurde. Der Vater von Germanicus und Claudius, Drusus der Ältere, erhielt 11 v. Chr. die ornamenta triumphalia und die ovatio für seine Erfolge in den Germanenkriegen. Postum erhielt er 9 v. Chr. den Beinamen Germanicus. Die Rückseite erinnert mit dem Triumphbogen des Drusus an die Verdienste des Vaters von Claudius und ist zugleich ein Zeichen der Pietas diesem gegenüber. H.-M. von Kaenel (1986) waren acht Aurei dieses Typs bekannt.
