The Prospect Avenue Rowhouse Group was constructed between 1874 and 1879 on Prospect Avenue near East 36th Street in Cleveland's Central neighborhood. Constructed in the Gothic Revival, Italianate, Eastlake, and Second Empire styles, the houses appear as if they were pulled straight from the streets of New York City, and are a rare example of this housing type in the city. The houses were largely built by well-to-do individuals whom once called the Prospect Avenue corridor home, back when the adjacent portion of Euclid Avenue was known as "Millionaire's Row." The rowhouses have survived the evolution of the area from a predominately upper class, residential area into a commercial corridor, while remaining residential in use. The rowhouses were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984, along with several nearby structures, and today, they remain in use as residential abodes, with the exception of one rowhouse, which is home to the Brownstone Inn, a bed and breakfast.
