Summary

edit
Description
English: Cliff road and southern groyne, Mappleton, East Riding of Yorkshire, England.
Two groynes were built in 1991 to protect the village of Mappleton which is under threat as the land erodes on the Holderness coast. The groynes used rock imported from Scandinavia. With the incoming tide, you can see how the north (left) side of the groyne has a more substantial beach than the south side, which has been eroded by the sea.
