Description The Clock Tower of the Palace of Westminster (Big Ben) at sunset, with the Ayrton light on. This light, located in the tower's lantern, denotes that at least one of the two Houses of the UK Parliament is sitting; it is lit at sunset, when the Union Flag flying from the Victoria Tower is lowered, and is extinguished when both Houses have risen.
