Description
English: Close up of the grave of Mrs. Abigail Park, Bowditch Cemetery, Searsport, Maine. The grave marker features a then-common motif, the death's head, at top. The marker describes her as the "virtuous wife of Cap. John Park" and notes that she died in 1790. This is one of the oldest graves in the cemetery. Note: cemeteries are a great place to encounter history, but never forget that they are considered sacred ground by many, particularly the families of those at rest in them. Please treat them with the utmost respect during your visits to them.
