Description
English: Clydesdale horses near Inver This Scottish draught horse developed in the district of Lanark around the River Clyde. It dates from the middle of the 18th century, when the hardy native breed - through use of Flemish stallions - was graded up to meet the trade demand for more weight and substance. Clydesdales combine quality and size without grossness and bulk, possess exceptionally sound feet and limbs. They stand about 16.2 hands and the colours are bay, brown and roan, with some greys and blacks. Large white patches often occur on the face and legs and the underparts of the body.
