Forgon Mihály: Gömör-Kishont vármegye című művében a következőt írja az Uza családnál a Balog nemzetségről: "Az Abaúj megyei ágból származott Uza Mihály lövői lakos, akinek fiai Mihály, János, András, György tiszaszőlősi lakosok 1781-ben, kiknek utódai - mint Csoma megjegyzi - talán még ma is élnek. Ha ez így volna, akkor a hatalmas Balog nemzetség ma sem halt ki teljesen."

Wappen: In B. ein doppelschw. g. Löwe, in d. erhobenen Rechten ein rw. geteiltes, zweizipfliges, nach rückwärts abflatterndes Banner haltend. - Kleinod: R. bekt. Mann mit g. Gürte1 und # Pelzkalpag wachsend in d. erhobenen Rechten einen Krummsäbel mit g. Parirstange, die Linke in d. Hüfte gestützt haltend. - Decken: bg.
(Gemaltes Wappen und Siegel d. d. 1665 mit Umschrift des Alexander Uza. - N. J. XL., Pag. 424 weicht - bei Aufrechthaltung der Hauptfigur - etwas ab).

Uradeliges Geschlecht des Abaujer Ctts, dessen erstbekannter Ahnherr Uza, in d. Zeit des Königs Béla gelebt haben dürfte. Der eine Sohn Peter, erscheint 1271 aufgeführt; der andere Sohn Comos Tobias, erhielt 1270 eine königl. Donationsbekräftigung auf Felsö-Szilva im Sároser Ctt. Im Jahre 1311 tritt Meister Uza urk. auf; 1415 erscheint Nikolaus Uza (a genere Cumanorum) mit Besitz auf Orosháza ec.; 1427 treten die Uza als Grundbesitzer auf Panyit, Ördögtelek, Tamási, Troja, Szilistye ec. in Gömör auf.

Die ununterbrochene Stammreihe bis auf die neuere Zeit beginnt mit Bernhard I., welcher 1500 eine neue Donation auf Szászfa im Abaujer Ctte erhält.
