A thunderstorm passing off the Atlantic Coast of Delaware produces intense lightning activity. We were RV camping at Delaware Seashore State Park on the north side of the Indian River Inlet. A storm passed by during sunset, moving off to the East over the ocean. I rode my bike out to the beach to witness an incredible display of lightning, cloud formations, and colors in the sky. I had my 14mm lens on and cropped this in to panoramic aspect ratio to mimic my views out on the beach. This particular shot was a normal shutter, manually timed with prolonged lightning bolt strikes. On the right side of the frame is the Indian River Bridge, carrying traffic from DE-1 Coastal Highway. There were a few favorites that I managed to capture on this "storm chasing photoshoot" and this is the second lightning shot that I was happy to get the timing right. |
