Explanation of the heraldic symbolism of the coat of arms:

The processional golden cross decorated with five blue stones commemorates Mary's accompaniment of Jesus on the Stations of the Cross. In the first and fourth field is the coat of arms of the Rožňava diocese, which symbolizes the attribute of the patron saint of the diocese, St. John of Nepomuk - the Charles Bridge on the Vltava River in Prague; the black colour symbolizes that his martyrdom took place at night. The head of the field with three stars is taken from the coat of arms of Pope Pius VI, who established the Bishopric of Roznava. In the second and third field is the personal statement of the owner of the coat of arms. The cross of St. Stanislaus, Bishop and Martyr of Cracow, commemorates the baptismal name of the bearer of the coat of arms; the red colour of the field symbolises that the patron received the grace of martyrdom. The flame symbolizes the power (strength) of the Holy Spirit. Starfish - The Star of the Sea symbolizes the Virgin Mary, the Mother of Hope, and is taken from the coat of arms of Pope Francis, who appointed the owner of the coat of arms as the diocesan bishop of the Diocese of Roznava. The riveted rafter symbolises the subtle but sure action of God's mercy in this world; its colour, together with the colour of the field, symbolises the water and blood that came out of Christ's pierced side. The symbolism of the field is amplified by the motto in the inscriptional tape based on the Gospel of Luke (4:14). The Slovak translation of the motto reads: "By the power of the Holy Spirit and with Mary". The green hat with six green tassels belongs only to a consecrated bishop. The coat of arms, in addition to the name of the bearer and his home place in the Church of Rosenava, depicts the heavenly protectors and the spirituality of his apostolic ministry.
